Goodreads Monday – Oct 24

Happy Monday, readers! Taken over from Lauren’s Page Turners, Budget Tales Book Blog is now hosting Goodreads Monday.  It’s a chance to share what’s on your Goodreads “TBR” list and progress on your current reads.

Firstly, if you have a Goodreads account, let’s be friends! I’m also bookbabenails there. 😊

I finished my first ARC from NetGalley over the weekend. I’m planning to wait to post my reviews until next week because it will be closer to the release date of the book. But I’m ready to start requesting more books so I’m excited!

I’m still working my way through ACOTAR. I haven’t fully gotten into it yet, but I think things are about to pick up. I’ve heard that the first book in this series isn’t the best but that it gets better with more series additions. That doesn’t always work well with me as a reader because I’m not the most patient to read an entire book or two before something gets good. That being said I have enjoyed what I’ve read so far, it just hasn’t sucked me in to motivate me to want to read a lot more.

My friend and I are starting a buddy read of The Last Housewife today! We read Winstead’s other thriller In My Dreams I Hold a Knife together earlier this year and we both enjoyed it so I’m excited to see how we find this one. I’ve heard that this book is actually kind of disturbing, which if you know me, is a GOOD thing for my tastes. I’m really looking forward to it more now.

This will be my final spooky read of October, I think. This book was recommended to me after I finished Lapvona and explained how I loved it for its disturbing content. I’ve heard that Penpal is very creepy. It’s about a man attempting to reconstruct his traumatic childhood from fragmented memories. I’m not too far into it yet, but the first chapter is a great hook so I’m optimistic about this one.

⁉️ Have you read any of my new current reads? If not, do any of them pique your interest?

  1. I read the first ACOTAR then left it not intending to read any more. I then decided to pick up the second one and I was hooked. The second one is my favourite.

A buddy read is exciting. I did one with my sister and cousin. Our next one will be next summer as we are all busy before then!

I can’t believe that our Halloween reads are coming to an end. How fast did this month go?!

    Have a great week!

  2. I have over a hundred titles on my goodreads TBR and appalling little self control in regards to used books. Right now I’m reading a book on nuclear bomb testing in the 1950s, and there are other books waiting to be read. “Pen Pal” sounds interesting! The cover looks a little low-energy, though.
